All Grown Up!

Doug's Logo [image]After the Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards in 2001, the network produced a very special episode of their award-winning series, Rugrats, to commemorate the series' ten year anniversary. The presentation was "The Rugrats: All Growed Up". The story starts with the babies watching a mad scientist go through time on television and their wonderment of doing the same. When Angelica gets mad about them playing with her toys, she chases after them. The babies hid in a closet, and after using some unlikely objects, the Rugrats went 10 years in the future!

In the future, they were in their pre-teen ages, and they were all in the same grade, except for Angelica and Susie, who were older. Their parents aged as well, as slight signs of age (wrinkles and gray hair) were shown. At the end of the episode, it turned out this was all a dream, since most of the Rugrats episodes are imaginative adventures.

Cast of "All Grown Up!" [image]Two years later, after many showings of "All Growed Up" on Nickelodeon, combined with good DVDs sales, their dream became a reality. After the Kids Choice Awards in 2003, Nickelodeon aired their first episode as a of their upcoming series titled "All Grown Up". The name was change to reflect the true grown up nature of the characters. This show has the same plot and characters as Rugrats, but begins 10 years in the future. Despite the decade of passed time, the series retains all of the original personalities that made Rugrats an initial success.

In 2003, Klasky-Csupo, the animation company, cancelled production on all but one of their shows, which luckily was All Grown Up. They even cancelled the Rugrats series, which ran on Nickelodeon for more than 10 years. The first season of this spin-off ran in 2003. It introduced things you never thought the former Rugrats would go through. Going through loves, changes in their lives and other things. It had 1 special titled "Lucky 13" which Angelica turned 13.

Then the 2nd season came about and was shown to be a major improvment over the first season. The kids had new hairstyles, changed clothes, and the animation for the show had changed! The animation was similar to what the Rugrats movies had. The season started with the first All Grown Up movie titled "Interview with a Campfire". The stories keep getting better and better and it's on the second season! It has not been renewed or cancelled, so keep checking to see what the fate of this show is.
